SUMITOMO’s Hydraulic Excavator, SH200-5 (termed as SH210-5 outside of Japan) has won the 18th Energy Conservation Award on January 17th, which is bestowed by the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy in the Ministry of Economy, Trade of Japan and Industry and Energy Conservation Center, Japan.

The award is open to the public and covers energy conservation technology, equipment and system for non-military use. The award serves to recognize technology in order to promote development and popularization of energy conservation.

SUMITOMO’s energy saving technology is highly praised and led to the award. SH200-5 LEGEST is the first award-wining product in the CE Industry.

One of SH200 LEGEST’s development concepts is high fuel efficiency from the point of view of environment protection. Consequently, SH200 LEGEST has achieved 20% fuel efficiency improvement in comparison with the conventional model, by integration of the new engine system “SPACE 5” and new hydraulic system “SIH:S”.

SH200-5 LEGEST has been also awarded Good Design Award 2007-2008 on Oct. 1st, 2007.

Good Design Award is Japan's only comprehensive design evaluation and commendation system. This system itself has its origin in the "Good Design Selection System" (generally known as the "G-Mark System") instituted by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry in 1957.
