| Indonesian Factory Opening Ceremony |
PT. Sumitomo S.H.I. Construction Machinery Indonesia, subsidiary of Sumitomo (S.H.I.) Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Mikio Ide) held an opening ceremony of its new excavator factory located in Karawang, Jawa Barat, Indonesia, on the 15th of September.
Around 600 participants joined the opening ceremony including Indonesian Industry Minister (Mr. Hidayat), Ambassador of Japan (Mr. Katori), Mayor of Karawang Prefecture, local distributor, and other business partners, and the ceremony was greatly celebrated together with the presentation of the first Indonesian made excavator.
“We expect this factory to be the hub of supply for hydraulic excavator to Indonesia, rich in natural resources and with prospective high economy growth, and other ASEAN countries”, President Mr. Ide started off the speech. “While we are experiencing depressed domestic production of construction equipments, we welcome Sumitomo Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. moving into Indonesia which will increase domestic production” followed Mr. Hidayat.
At the third worldwide factory of Sumitomo Construction Machinery Co., Ltd., 21 ton hydraulic excavator will initially be produced, planned to be followed by 33 ton excavator from June 2012, and 35 ton excavator from September 2012, expanding the model range of production.
